THE MONARCH
The following takes place approximately 2000 years ago:Opulens is a nation located away from The Union (aka where the main story takes place). Opulens is a powerful kingdom that worships the White Fox, a symbol believed to be a provider of wealth and victor to the kingdom. In a sense, the White Fox is seen as a deity, a being who was given various offerings and in exchange, provided the Monarch with advice and prophecies to aid the glory of the nation.
The current monarch is known as Sa, who is Seele and Syns’ parent alongside Ng. It’s important to note that Ng was married into this kingdom and not an actual citizen of this. Ng’s true origins are unknown to Sa and their family. Ng is actually a spy in disguise sent by an enemy nation, which led Seele to possess a few traits that are reminiscent of the enemy nation’s people; dark hair and sharper teeth. Unlike Ng, Seele’s traits were unable to mask and led to Sa’s reluctance to pass the crown to Seele, despite Seele being the eldest and born to inherit it.This decision was made later on in Seele’s life, leaving room for a moment in time where Seele truly believed in their destiny to be the heir. Years had been dedicated into being the best they could be, only to be denied the throne.Syns, the youngest child, was known to be more easygoing compared to Seele. Besides that, Syns was very lively, stopping to smell the roses and had a habit of being clumsy. Being younger, Syns wasn't as skilled and studious as Seele, yet Sa was more confident in them.Growing up (during the period where Seele hadn't known of Sa’s plans), Syns and Seele were on good terms, but day by day, the preferential treatment grew blatant, and Seele became envious and enraged towards Syns.
Seele's distaste didn't end there, they grew resentful of Sa and felt conflicted with Ng.
Down the line, when Ng believed Seele to be old enough for the truth and was confident that Seele’s hatred towards Sa was strong enough, Ng unveiled their plan to overthrow the kingdom.
Throughout all of Sa’s punishments and torment towards Seele, Ng had been standing behind Sa’s back, of course, to not raise suspicion, but in Seele's eyes, Ng cared more about the cause than Seele themself. And in a way, Seele was a pawn in the overarching plot to overturn Opulens–But Seele was determined to be more than that.
They had no loyalty towards Ng, but for now, they knew it was better to pick off the easier threats; Syns.Eventually, Seele grew more violent towards Syns, after all, they've been blamed for everything that happens to Syns.Worried that the heir might actually die, Sa begged the White Fox for assistance, which they did; blessing Syns with temporary immortality until they've secured another heir. (The White Fox certainly had a stronger motive for this, sensing the true evil that Seele could unleash)Outraged, Seele realised a better solution. One that would bring about pain greater than one's own death; the death of a loved one.And so, Seele led Nire (Syns' lover) to their own demise.Distraught over Nire’s passing, Syns brought the kingdom to its knees, allowing Seele to rise amidst the destruction as the new Monarch. With that, Seele pledged an oath to the White Fox, to forever serve the deity in exchange for their own immortality, which was dutifully granted.
Seele and Syns are now constantly at odds against each other, eternally bound to resentment and the need to be better than the other. One can not live without the other, well more so one can not be evil without the other.
And that was the opportunity that the White Fox foresaw, leading them to invest in the siblings' rivalry. After a while, Seele and Syns moved to a continent that had been isolated from the rest of the world, finding it to be the perfect land for a new start; building their own nations and waging war against each other in an attempt to rise as victor; the carrot on the stick.Over the centuries, their humanity began to wither away, leaving two vile creatures in place, hosts of a rotting vessel.Seele is consistent in their wrong doings, and in a way, still obeys a certain set of rules they've set out for themself. Certainly more civil and rational, a man of science and logic, but still twisted and selfish behind closed doors. Seele understands the importance of image and reputation, carefully crafting theirs and willing to bear the responsibility of power.Syns, however, disregards everything. Unpredictable in their next move and a constant pendulum swinging from one end of extreme to the other. There is no reasoning with them. Indulging in fame, wealth, and addiction, with their self destructive tendencies and determination to condemn everyone around them in suffering as well. And the only thing Syns obeys is the White Fox.
